By clicking the box in the upper-right, you will see the icon you chose, as well as the option to switch person. Click on "switch person" if you would like to switch accounts, or set up another user.
From now on, this is where you should go to switch between the multiple accounts being used on your Chrome browser. You will love this option and notice that it fixes the issues of logging in and out of accounts constantly. Enjoy! |
If you are someone who has to share a computer at work, or if you have multiple Gmail accounts like myself, you will probably be interested in learning how to access them within the Chrome browser. When more than one account is connected to the Chrome browser in the incorrect way, users can become frustrated with constantly being asked which account they would like to use, among other issues. So, here's what you need to do to set up multiple accounts correctly!
In your Chrome browser, go to Chrome>Preferences. This is where you will connect your Google account with the browser. As you see in the screenshot below, I am already signed in.
However, if you have not signed in, it will look like this:
After signing in with your account, scroll down in the Settings screen until you find "People."
Click on "Add Person." You can choose an icon to represent the person and type in a name. Then click "add."
This will take you to another browser window to sign into the account. You can add more accounts using this same process. But now the question is, how do you navigate from one user to the next? If you are using the current version of Google Chrome (version 43), you should see a box in the upper-right displaying the person's name you just entered. This is where you will click to change (and set up) other Gmail accounts.

Anyone who is reading this and has 6+ tabs opened at once, this post is especially for you! On a daily basis, I found myself opening up (and logging into) the same websites......or I would just never close them for fear of having to waste precious time to log in again. I found a new trick that saved me so much time each day. Try pinning a tab. Just right-click on the tab that you use frequently. For me, it was my Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. Select "Pin Tab" and you're done! Pinning a tab shrinks it, moves it to the far left, and locks it in place.
After you are done pinning the tabs, you probably want them to always open, even if you quit the Chrome Browser or shut down your computer. This is an easy setting. Go to Chrome>Preferences.
