- Flipping - Students can watch instructional videos outside of traditional class time to prepare for the more hands-on application work they will do in class.
- Remediation - Students that need extra help can watch videos to gain more instruction, with the option to rewind and rewatch as needed.
- Enrichment - Students that are ready for additional content or challenges can use your recorded screencasts to extend their learning.
- Differentiation - There is only one of you, but there can be loads of videos you have created, allowing students to explore different content as needed or desired.
- Sharing - Students can record their thoughts and opinions, giving them a voice in the lesson.
- Explaining - Students can record and explain their understanding to a math problem in ANY app!
- Summarizing - Students can record and explain a concept by using a website, app or any media on the iPad.
- Reading - Students can read a story aloud and record for documented fluency practice in any app, including Epic, Open Ebooks, or a Google Drive shared document.
Ever since I have owned an iPad, it has always bothered me that there was not an easy way to record (screencast) what you are doing on the iPad. Yes, there are workarounds (connecting the iPad to your computer) and apps that you can use, but not all apps have this feature. Did you know that now, with the iOS 11 update on student devices, they can record themselves in any application on the iPad!? Before I show you HOW, let’s quickly discuss WHY this might be something you’d want your students to do.
